Twelve material types, sorted into three streams

We accept non-hazardous solid wastes that can be recovered as metals, fibre or polymer. Everything else is either not ours to take or needs a specialist route.

If your material is not on this list, describe it and we will tell you honestly whether we can handle it.

What we take — and what we do not

Our intake is deliberately narrow. Narrow intake is what keeps grades clean enough to be supplied back into manufacturing rather than downcycled.

Accepted as standard

Not accepted

  • Hazardous or special waste of any kind
  • Clinical, sanitary and healthcare waste
  • Liquids, sludges and oils
  • Asbestos and asbestos-containing materials
  • WEEE and batteries
  • Food waste and animal by-products
Metals

Metals we handle

Ferrous scrapStructural steel, plate, offcuts, redundant steelwork and light iron.
Non-ferrous metalsAluminium, copper, brass and lead, kept separate by metal.
Mixed metalsSwarf, workshop arisings and mixed metal loads graded on arrival.
Paper & fibre

Paper & fibre we handle

OCCOld corrugated containers and cases, baled dry and free of contamination.
Office paperWhite and mixed office grades from offices and print rooms.
NewsprintNewspapers, magazines and directories recovered as a separate grade.
Plastics

Plastics we handle

PEPolythene film, sacks and containers, sorted from other polymers.
PPRigid polypropylene such as crates, trays and mouldings.
PETBottles, sheet and thermoform, kept separate from PVC.
PVCPipe, profile and sheet offcuts handled as their own stream.
Mixed rigid plasticsTubs, trays and non-film packaging sorted by polymer.

How grades are kept clean

Grade discipline is not paperwork, it is the physical handling. We sort on intake, keep streams apart through processing and store bales dry so that moisture does not turn a supply grade into a rejected load.

Describe the material and we will confirm the route

Tell us the material type, the approximate volume and the postcode. If it needs a specialist route rather than ours, we will say so.
